I received an invitation to download an Adobe sponsored whitepaper by IDG Connect (the self-proclaimed “premier IT knowledge base”). I was interested in the topic, so I clicked on the link provided in the email. As expected, my web browser populated the registration form for me. But, when I looked closer, except for the “email address” field, the rest of the form was populated with someone else’s information. I asked others to test this form for me, but they were unable to replicate my exper

These days there are many good options available for RAW conversion software. Photoshop has Adobe Camera Raw, Adobe also has Lightroom and Apple’s offering of Aperture being a few popular choices. However the professional photographers software of choice for many years has been Capture One which is made by PhaseOne who you may recognise from also making top end digital backs for medium format cameras. So it would make sense for the same manufacturer to also make a top end piece of software t

Apple told us it is easier to upgrade to the latest Mac OS X Snow Leopard. It may not be true. A collaborative project at http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/ (currently inaccessible because of wikidot maintenance.) listed more than 60 apps that don’t work on Snow Leopard. Fortunately, most of the popular apps including Microsoft Office will be fine. Some reports said Photoshop CS3 does not work with Snow Leopard, but later Adobe claimed they have tested and works fine on Snow Leopard. So, consider t
Microsoft Office 2010 is coming. In fact, today we received word that the online suite, called Web Apps, will in fact be free. A semi-private beta test of Office 2010 begins today. With nearly-free competition coming from Google , Apple and Adobe , Microsoft really had no choice when it came to offering the product suite for free. The new apps, which include Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote, will be available to anyone who has a Windows Live account. Here is the official press
A fascinating soap opera of video format wars precedes us and one has to wonder why exactly Adobe's Flash format is not supported on the iPhone. Microsoft came out with an ad and PR campaign recently which focused on the excessive amount of money being spent on Apple products and services - they call this the " Apple Tax ."
