Marware Skin

Introduction

The Marware protection pack is a package that consists of a soft pvc leather skin that protects the hand rest of the MacBook Pro as well as a keyboard cover, the thing abou this skin is that it’s not the normal transparent plastic overlay that most manufacturers sell over their website, this skin has a smooth feeling. It is relatively thicker when compared to film protectors and the adhesive is a gel based marterial somewhat like the sticky substance they use for electronic massage pads which feels easier to remove when needed yet providing the comfort that it’s secured nicely ontop of the wrist rest area.
The protection pack comes with a small keyboard cover that doubles up as a screen cleaning cloth that can be used to rid the screen of dust and unwanted residue. The cloth is made of soft microfiber and can be used on either side althought I would advise againest using the part with the Marware logo to clean the screen.

Installation

Installation is pretty simple is most instances, just align the left side of the wrist rest with the left edge of the laptop while aligning the top left length with the speaker holes, make sure that the top length just brushes below the holes, user the holes as the markings to enure that the skin is straight, slowly adhere the skin onto the notebook and you’re done!

Conclusion

What is bad about placing skins at the arm rest would be the fear that heat would build up, since the aluminium housing is not long directly in contact with air heat is less likely to be released into the air.

The other thing being that there are some rubber feet, 2 located at the top of your where the catches are and 2 at the top left and right sides of the LCD. The problem is that these feet were designed to contact with the MacBook Pro surface instead of the Marware wrist pads so closing the MacBook Pro becomes a little harder giving more strain to the latches as the Marware wrist pads prevent that contact.
Techpresso Ratings: 4/5

(Great looks giving that professional look with added comfort for prolonged used, but a more customized skin with cutouts for the rubber feet would be great)

Pros:

  • Skin like feeling for added comfort
  • Secure adhesive
  • Fits nicely over your wrist rest area, great workmanship except for some loose threads
  • Wrist areas cooler to the touch

Cons:

  • Prevents MacBook Pro from closing without a little more effort
  • Trap head under the pad
