by Paul Quassantos With good reason, clearance mobile phones are becoming the savvy shopper’s rage. You might think your smart phone is pretty brainy, but is it clever enough to essentially replace your laptop while on the go?

What would be the next big thing for mobile applications?
Would there be iTunes like ringtones?
What about the applications from smart phones? What time of applications can be downloaded today on the mobile phones

operators are in a fix, talking about ringtone dnloads its about community creating content. Data content now is created on the edge (by consumers instead of inhouse publication houses)

One of the killer app, location base service
Chris: GPS create opportunities for developers to develop more interesting applications. Looking for a store, the mobile phone would be using a application to GPS map instantly for you.

Besides location search, which exists already, so whats next. Companies might want to add GPS capability on the search result. Also they could add price comparison of the shops within the location for greater bargains

for location base service how would the business model be? Would it be Pull or Push, Chandra said it would be pull rather than push. The users will have the power to chose when and where they would want applications to contact them.

limitation of the mobile application – Pricing is one big problem, it seems to be the operators are telling consumers not to use these mobile data transfer services as it will make you broke.

Regulators will come in to help level the eco system to help make the service more affordable. Mobile Operators might be afraid of these technology as they cant determine the type of data that you are downloading.

Raise of hand how many have bluetooth, many pple and it shows that this would be the network disruptor that would bypass the network operator. As our devices all can communicate with each other and minus the network operator. This brings us to Web 3.0 decentralize means of communicating.

The developers want to be able to build one time and deploy to as many devices in 1 launch. This would be more cost effective.

When would you think would MS dominate the mobile market? MS is in it for the long haul, they are only in the mobile OS domain for 4 and a half years. MS is not going to buy Nokia, they would rather focus on SW and tie up with the hardware providers.

Mobile phones would be more about small, nice and beautiful and not OS or technical stuff like the iphone. The mobile phone would have to focus part of the form factor.

UI is very important, user are focus on the experience and not the technical (OS) platform

One of the next type of phone coming out would be wearables, integrated into our fabrics. Cool stuff.

The mobile phone applications should have a network effect, as it will give you a better user experience. Security would be a big issue in future.

Ok thanks all for now, its going to end. Sorry if I didnt manage to cover all the information and also if the input above is confusing. Cheers Sixniner out.

S300

StrTrk Series Dopod S300 – SmartPhone

What truly stands out here is the size of the phone, smart phones have been sterotyped to be large and bulky devices, here is something that a lady would probably not mind holding on to. It looks acceptable but guess it does not shine in the fashion department. But it sure does look sleek because of the size.
